Sherwood bronze raw water / sea water pump BODY (housing) casting. The Sherwood name and the Detroit foundry marking are cast into the housing. Note: "DETROIT" is Sherwood's foundry city marking, not a Detroit Diesel application.

Application: Not verified. Appearance is consistent with the Sherwood P176 / P176X family often associated with Caterpillar 3208 engines, but no legible model or service part number is present on this casting, so no application is being claimed. Sold by photographs, identifiers, and dimensions.

Included: Pump body casting only. No shaft, bearings, seals, impeller, cam, cover plate, gasket, drive gear/pulley, or hardware.

Condition: Used, untested take-off. General dirt, surface oxidation, and light verdigris around the threaded port and snout. No visible cracks or stripped threads in the photos, but the casting has not been pressure tested, crack tested, or bore measured. Condition of the internal bore cannot be graded from photographs.
